Bourjois Paris Effet Smokey Eye liner 79 Sparkling Granite : Review, Swatch, EOTD

By Tarry

Hey my lovelies....

Sorry for being MIA for such a long time. So much happening on both work and home fronts... Phew! Have a wedding to attend this weekend and it's so hectic preparing.... I already have the first giveaway planned... But piromise... once back, You'll see me a lot more. Also, we have some new members on board PEL who would be joining it :) Btw, am making small changes from this post onwards...
Do tell me if you liked them :)

I am a eye pencil and coloured liners fan. They are not just convenient for everyday use, but also are a great thing to look good within minutes without much effort. And Bourjois is one of my favorite brands when it comes to eye pencils. They offer such a huge range from waterproof to soft, smooth lining kohls. Off late, this brand has become my real favourite.
So here ladies and gentlemen, I’m reviewing the Bourjois Paris Effet Smokey Eye liner 79 Sparkling Granite, my everyday wear smokey eye pencil for that smouldering look.

Price : Rs 475 for 0.89 gms.

What the company says about the Product :
A smoky look available in 5 deep and intense shades achievable in 2 simple steps: 1) Outline the eye with the pencil ... 2) Smudge with the brush
Its soft, easy-to-blend tip glides along the lashline for an intense outline in one stroke. Its ultra soft brush made of natural bristles perfectly smudges the formula. The result: a subtle but incredibly sexy smoky look in just 2 steps!
And it’s good for my eyes: - High tolerance formula
- Tested on sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers
- Enriched with natural waxes and vitamins E & C*.
*Vitamin derivatives.

The packaging :
The eye liner is in the form of a wooden pencil, which is colour coded with the shade and firm plastic cap on one side, and a soft smudging brush at the other end. I love the design which is so innovative :-)
and the brush is fixed well...

The bristles of the brush are very soft, and do not hurt the eyes at all. It smudges the pencil kohl well and I at times use it for other kohls as well. A good design I must say..
The pencil is good wooden one which sharpens easily with no problems at all. The entire pencil is good to be stacked in your purse as one simple tool.

The colour :

The shade is aptly called Sparkling granite. It is slight powdery in texture which makes it ideal for smudging and blending. The colour is a lovely grey with shimmer that looks awesome when blended without looking OTT... :-)

The colour can be used both on waterline as well as the lid, as it does not tug or pull and goes deep in just one swipe.
The staying power on the waterline is about 5-6 hours after which it fades off. On the lids, it stays for around 6.5 hours after being blended, but then, smudges a bit :> But nothing which looks bad or gives you racoon eyes.. The color is great for everyday wear to office and parties as well.. and would work on almost everyone. However, my dark skinned lovelies may have to go for darker shades.

The Good, the Bad & the Ugly... :

The GOOD :-)

  • Awesome packaging, the smudger brush is good for the purpose.
  • Soft, smooth texture.
  • Powdery, ensuring that it blends and smokes out easily.
  • Good pigmentation.
  • Did not irritate eyes.
  • Safe for contact lens wearers.
  • Great for everyday wear, enabling in creating soft smokey looks

The BAD :-(
  • Doesn't stay much on waterline or lower lash line.
  • Can smudge.
  • Not waterproof.

The UGLY :P
  • Thankfully, nothing ugly about this one...

And here is the swatch. First is swiped once, and the second is blended and smoked out.

The eye pencil just swiped once.

And now, blended and smoked.

And here comes the EOTD. Please excuse my bushy eyebrows, my parlour girl wasn't well and can't take risk with new people. :-(

Just swiped, not blended.

Swiped and blended, only till the crease.

PEL Verdict :

If you love smokey eyes and want to wear them everyday, Bourjois Effet Smokey liners are a MUST-HAVE for you. These have a soft, powdery texture, are well pigmented and can be easily smudged to create smokey eye looks. The staying power isn’t that great, but still, they are worth the penny. And adding eye shadows to set them can make them even more beautiful. I specially love them for their packaging.

Rating : 4.5/5
