JOTD The Real me is like a flower, like a child Featuring Anokhi Jewelry

By Tarry
“Just imagine becoming the way you used to be as a very young child,
before you understood the meaning of any word, before opinions took over your mind.
The real you is loving, joyful, and free.
The real you is just like a flower, just like the wind, just like the ocean, just like the sun…”
Miguel Angel Ruiz

Childhood is such a beautiful time indeed isn’t it. Such carefree days, no worries about life and a smile for everything…. Simply bliss. But we all know that there are many children in this world whose childhood is not as blessed.  They too have to worry about their daily earnings and for them, a full hearty meal or a room full of toys is a dream.
Still, they always have a smile on their face. And these smiles, coupled with beautiful flowers, are indeed a pure ecstasy. While shooting the latest #JOTD, we decided to shoot in the wholesale flower market in Chowk area of Lucknow at 6 in the morning. Situated right behind the historic & religion Bada Imambara, this mandi not just has a wide variety of flowers being sold at wholesale prices, but also you see a large number of families making marigold garlands. Children as small as 6 yr are also engaged in this, as more hands would mean more garlands and ofcourse, more money.
What initially was meant to be a shoot with exotic flowers in the backdrop ended up with me posing with these garland makers instead. Their smiles just added to the beauty of each and every click. The flowers, the smiles and ofcourse, a beautiful piece of Bronze, Yellow and Mauve jewellery by the gorgeous collection of Anokhi Jewelry andAccessories just made that morning.

Here’s presenting the JOTD,
The Real me is like a flower, like a child,
Featuring Anokhi Jewelry & Accessory

The jewellery by Anokhi, whose creator Vinnie has been featured in O Womaniya, is really different from your run-of-the-mill types. Combining intricately handwoven lac beads with metal pendants and colourful thread, they look magnificent.

For me, the highlight of this piece was the fusion of lac and metal. These beads are so beautiful that one can’t stop admiring their beauty. And while the neckpiece steals the show and the yellow and mauve promise to add colour to any dull outfit, the earrings made from metal and lac beads are an attraction in itself and can be worn individually. Before I go on and on, let the clicks do the talking now.

Trying my hand at some garland making. Check the boy's expressions...

These smiles are priceless :-)

This post, and more to come, is in collaboration with Ajay Jain of Waltz Tours & Travels Pvt Ltd. Check out their website here. An encyclopedia of sorts on Lucknow and UP, he not just connects foreigners coming in, but even the local Indian populace. He breathes tourism and for him, the true nature of a city is through its old galis. His fascination for doing offbeat stuff is unbeatable. Together, PEL, photographer Naeem Chishti and Waltz have decided to showcase some old galis, markets and long lost heritages of the Lucknow city.
