Hey All,
Thanks for loving my travelogues
so much. Well, since it was a long tour, I am still travelling in the city of
Hyderabad, this place doesn’t seem to end !!
Talking about large man made
monuments, let’s get to things we know about, say like the Great Wall of China
maybe? But why am I talking about it? Well, it’s not in Hyderabad na... But
what we have our own version, or lets say a perfect architectural marvel in our
very own country.
So all, let’s read about my
journey to one of
India’s
acoustic marvel : The Golconda Fort

Another fabulous place I visited and couldn’t even cover seeing it all due to its vastness. Yes it is really huge, covering around 11 kms of the areas and we were told that whatever we saw in the whole day was just about 40 % of the whole place! I wonder what more was left after having our feet ache so much.

Golconda, also known as Golkonda or Golla konda ("shepherd's hill"), a ruined fort of Southern India and capital of medieval Golconda Sultanate (c.1518–1687), is situated 11 km west of Hyderabad, Telangana. It is also a mandal District. The region is known for the mines that have produced some of the world's most famous gems, including the Koh-i-Noor, Hope Diamond and the Nassak Diamond.

The best part was when we went up to the terrace of the fort and saw the sunset. While the sun beautifully slips through the ruins spreading its dim lights through the broken walls and empty spaces all over our faces. This place truly had some wonderful architectural wonders. We were made to talk in opposite sides of a wall which was about 20 steps away from the other corner, we were asked to speak and guess what ! We could hear what the other person spoke, like a telephone loud and clear ! Seriously, this is one acoustic marvel India has.

There were points built in the fort where if one clapped or spoke, their voice would echo like if one speaks on a mike ! WOW!! It was no less than magic, who'd call it an architecture wonder. We then head off for a light and sound show in the fort itself dubbed by Amitabh Bachchan, that explained the history of the fort and its people, it was indeed beautiful.

The whole place is full of different rooms and sections including slaughter house , court room, queen's court and what on. One must visit it and experience it themselves as the stories are worth listening to. Do look for hotel bookings in Hyderabad to plan your trip. You can also read more about the Golconda Fort here.

I
have been to the Golconda Fort and I truly admire the architecture and the
science involved in making it. Seriously, India has such marvellous jewels and
this post indeed does complete justice to one of them. Loved it Aakriti. And even the photographs, although from a mobile, are worth appreciation.
