Diwali Special : Neutral light smokey eyes look for Chhoti Diwali night

By Tarry

Hi lovelies...
A very happy and joyous Dhanteras to all of you.
The festival of Dhanteras actually kick starts the Diwali festivities. It prepares your house, your family and the environment to celebrate one of the most beautiful festivals in India :-)

Thanks for your lovely response to the Diwali special series. Apart from your awesome comments (a shoutout here to Natasha Bhatt 'Nats' who is always the first one to comment... love you Nats), some of you have even sent lovely emails.

We have already shared two different looks to kick start your festival. And today, I am sharing my first look,

a Neutral light smokey eyes look for Chhoti Diwali,

i.e. a day after Dhanteras. Apart from being called as Narak Chaturdashi, it is also called the Roop Chaturdashi... the time when you and your house needs to look the best. So here is a simple look that you can try for Chhoti Diwali.

p.s. : Somehow my camera refused to behave with my face (perils of keeping it in hiding for long) so please ignore the weird pix and lighting :-(
The products I used are in brackets.

Start off with a nice clean base by using a moisturiser (Olay total effects duo). Apply lip balm on your lips to soften them (Maybelline Baby Lips). Meanwhile, get your armour ready while your skin soaks in the moisturiser.

Use a light to medium coverage foundation (Loreal Magic Nude Light Powder Foundation in Natural Beige) for a flawless soft base. Apply concealer if needed (Revlon colorstay in light medium) on under eyes if needed. Now, set the base with a powder (Rimmel Stay Matte in Silky Beige)...

Apply a bronzer to your cheeks, specially the apples to add some colour and natural bronzed look to your face (Maxfactor Mineral Bronzer). Your face is done. Now move over to the eyes.
Use a black kajal pencil to create a thick eye liner look on the upper lids to create a base for smokey eyes (Maybelline Colossal Kajal). Smudge it using a rust brown eye shadow to create a soft hue till the crease (ELF 32 colour palette). Use a pinkish brown eye shadow above the crease till the brow bone to add dimension. Fill in your brows. Apply kajal on your waterline and just a single stroke of mascara (Maybelline Colossal Mascara).

Finally, the lips. Create a long lasting base using a neutral lip liner (Faces Canada Lip Liner). Now fill your lips with a peachy n*de or a brown n*de lip gloss to add that lovely touch to your pout (MAC Creemsheen lipglass in Deelight).
Add that extra element to your look with a big red bindi. Since I did not have a readymade one in this size, I used MAC ruby woo with a lip brush to create this :-)

The photographs were clicked in yellow light to give a fair idea how the makeup would look in Diwali lights and in photographs. Hope you all liked this simple look. Do stay tuned because two bold looks are coming up for Diwali... (with better pix definitely :-)
