Fashion Files : Street VS Brand – Knee Length dresses

By Aakriti

“Your dresses should be tight enough to show you are a woman and loose enough to show you are a lady ..” – Edith Head

Aah! Hot and Humid summers… In this hot and humid weather, all that we are searching for is something that helps us cut this heat.
What can be more comfortable and cool than dresses in this weather. Not only are they one feminine pair of clothing but also a very light and easy to carry. No matter how skinny or plump you may be , dresses can be easily pulled off by every girl, be it young or old…

Hey ladies , I bring to you my next post in the Street Vs Brand series…
on knee length dresses.

So here's my piece on the first category of dresses - STREET

Floral Fantasy

Since we girls demand variety in our lives , street is the right place to shop for quantity.

This piece of dress was the first one that caught my eye because… IT'S FLORAL !
This summer is all about florals and who wouldn't want to add one in their wardrobe for the season !!

It's an easy straight cut dress , almost knee length to give it semi-midi kind of look with a V neck and a string that follows back and has to be tied to one pretty bow.
The best part is the material of this dress , it's lycra and dries in minutes if caught with water in rain or anything . The cloth slips on the body and automatically shapes itself on oneself, giving you that perfect fit kinda feeling.

One can wear it to several occasions like a high-tee , to grocery shopping at a store , with friends at the mall etc. Just anything… J
Pair them up with pretty one bold colour flats or low wedges to add to your whole look. Add some basic accessories and you are good to go.
It's cheap it's nice it's floral !

Price - Rs 350 (See I said na … :-)

I happened to have picked mine from a street sale in Sector 22 Chandigarh and I’m sure it's easily available everywhere! Bargain and you might get yours even cheaper !
Do get the flowers printed on yourselves girls !!

My next category is BRANDS

Pristine Beauty

We all need that one if not exactly cocktail but semi-formal dress in our wardrobe.
Net or croche has been in ever since and when I saw this dress I totally fell in love with it for its pure, pristine white colour.

It's the summer colour and makes one feel soo fresh. Brands definitely offer you that extra fashion edge which one may not always find at street.
This dress has been picked from FOREVER NEW, a chain of international clothing easily available in India now. The dress has frock ending and straight bold sleeves with a broad U shaped neck both at front and back.

The cloth on the upper chest front is acrylic and croche at the bottom encircling the dress with a white lining inside. It came along with a sleek dull gold belt which adds to its semi-formal look.

Pair them up with nice delicate flats like thongs or ballerinas. It can be worn to an evening or night party, to a Christian wedding, a formal lunch etc.

Price : Rs 4890 (more than 10 times the earlier one… but its worth it…)
It's a little on the high end of the budget but almost all things are expensive or they don’t have your size haha ! :p

PEL SHOUTS : WOW Aakriti, this is such a fab post. I personally love dresses for summer as they are super cool and comfy. I loved the first one immensely and at the price it is, it's a real steal...

How did you find this new feature on PEL ?
What are your favourite brands or markets for picking up dresses ? What more would you like to see in this series?
