Winter whispers - Dove Body Lotion Essential Nourishment review

By Tarry

Hello my lovelies.....

So winters are finally here... : ) After going to the office with just one stole all last week, I am finally sporting my woolies to the office now. My skin has also started showing signs of welcoming the winters by getting dry.

Incidentally, I am a body lotion hoarder which I keep alternating in winters. Some I use for their effect on my skin, some for their fragrance and some, just because I loved the packaging.

So my dear ladies... here I present to you, the Dove essential body lotion... one of my loved body skin saviours for winters ; )

Price : Rs 200 for 250 ml

Ingredients: Aqua,Glycerin, Stearic Acid, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Dimethicone, Glycol Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Cyclopentasiloxane, Petrolatum, Collagen amino acids, Helianthus annuus hybrid oil, Isomerized linoleic acid. Lactic acid, potassium lactate, sodium pca, urea, Glyceryl Stearate, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearamide AMP, Triethanolamine, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Carbomer, Disodium EDTA, Parfum, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Benzyl Alcohol, ButylphenylMethylpropional, Citronellol, Coumarin, Geraniol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde, Limonene, Linalool, CI 77891.... (Phew... what a long list)

What the brand claims : 24hour proven deep nourishment with deepcare complex. For normal-dry skin.

I got this as a part of the winter hamper sent to me by Bebeautiful. Incidentally, the hamper came to me somewhere in May when the winters were long over. So I decided to use it in winters and have been using it religiously everyday from the last 10 days.

For someone who sits in ac for about 7 hours a day and has normal to dry skin, this is a good lotion to try out. First, about the packaging. The dove lotions come in a sturdy, opaque white plastic bottle, which is difficult to squeeze : (
So one needs to get really tough with it to get the lotion out. The top is a flip open, which does not open while sitting in your handbag. So it's travel friendly too :)

do check out my favourite red muffler in this pic ... :)
Now about the lotion. It is white in colour and has signature dove smell which is not too overbearing and goes off after a while. The consistency is quite thick, which is why it is best to be used immediately after a bath, as it does take time to get absorbed. However, once done, it makes your skin super smooth.

The amount in the pix above is just the amount I need for my entire arm (just one) in winters. I like applying it at night on my body just before going off to sleep as then, I wake up with soft and glowing skin.

However, the 24-hour claims do not work and if applied in the morning, I need to reapply the lotion again after 4 hours which may be a con. Another con is that it contains parabens and hell lotta chemicals.

Overall, those looking for a body lotion to combat dry skin (and not super dry) can opt for this one. But if your skin is super dry, opt for other varients dear...
